Story-Inspired Free Printable Thanksgiving Placemat

One of our most popular fall posts is the Thanksgiving placemat craft we created to go with the book Bear Says Thanks. If you want a quicker version on the same concept, these free printable Thanksgiving placemats are for you.

My girls love Love LOVE to color. Any time I make or print out something they can get their markers or crayons on, they’re eager to jump in. Yesterday, though, we had a small problem.

Our markers ran dry. Practically all of them! They seemed to work at first, but as soon as we committed to a color, it started to fade. It was super frustrating. I guess I know what Santa will be putting in their stockings this year — if we can wait that long.

Once we switched to crayons, it was relaxing once again to sit and color. I wished that we still had Bear Says Thanks on hand (affiliate). It’s a sweet story about a bear whose cupboards are bare. Then his friends arrive with food to share. The line, “and Bear said ‘Thanks'” repeats throughout the story.

In the end, the friends all sit down on a pretty quilt and eat their feast together.

That quilt –and really the whole story — inspired these free printable Thanksgiving placemats. It also inspired the craft I posted last year.

You can put this on the kids’ table at Thanksgiving dinner. Or, you can give it to them earlier, then laminate it, or cover it with clear contact paper.
