Apple Theme Sight Word Game {Free Printable}
This apple theme sight word game was fun to make, and my girls were excited to play with it. I’m can’t wait to share it with you!
I’ve been trying to get into an autumn frame of mind here. I keep imagining chilly mornings, hints of fall foliage, and apple picking. Instead, here in Texas, we have warm, humid mornings, late summer flowers, and no apples anywhere.
But a woman can dream, right?
When we played with our apple theme sight word game, we loved imagining an autumn trip to an apple orchard. Someday we’ll visit somewhere that we can pick them for real.
We did go peach picking late last spring. I imagine it’s a similar experience. It was one of those places where you pick your fruit, and then get it weighed. You pay by the pound.
Well. That may work if you have dawdling toddlers, but it got super expensive with three competent school aged kids. I felt like I should hire my kids out as farm laborers to pay for their peach picking habit.
Apple Theme Sight Word Game Materials
- Printout of the game and control card: Apple Theme Sight Word Game
- Dice or spinner
- Game pawns – we used flat glass marbles (the same ones we used for our ladybug sight word game with last spring)
- Tape
- Clear contact paper (optional)
Trim and tape together the two-page game board. Cover it with contact paper if you want. On the control card, write one sight word in each box. Alternatively, you could lay small flashcards or sticky notes in each box.
Apple Theme Sight Word Game Instructions
- Roll the dice or spin the spinner, and move the game piece that number of spaces.
- Look at the image in the space you’ve landed on, and find its match on the control card.
- Read the word next to that image on the control card.
- Repeat, alternating players, until you reach the end.
We won’t have cool weather here until nearly Christmas, but this little game is helping us dream.
