Draw Your Own Back-to-School Mazes

Kids who loves mazes can work through a stack of them pretty quickly. One solution is to give them harder ones. Another fun activity for big kids is drawing their own mazes.

I caught my son making his own maze out of a coloring sheet, and had an “aha!” moment. As a child, I loved making my own mazes, but they were always just various geometric shapes.

Using clip art line drawings instead could be really fun!

My twins are already excited about going to the “big school” next month, so I put together three different back-to-school themed maze frames.

I love activities that are differentiated for each individual child. Kids can make their mazes as easy or as complicated as they want.

My son, who just turned 9, couldn’t sit still for much of anything when he was 5. It’s a whole other story now. He spent probably 20 minutes drawing a detailed maze before I had to stop him for dinner.

He’s going to finish it tomorrow and hopes to trick me into a few wrong turns.
